When I close my eyes to sleep

they come to me,

sometimes only a whisper

sometimes they scream so loud you too can hear

I hear them in my head

their chants fill my ears

I feel them surround me

They steal my sleep

and give me tears in return

Sometimes, comfort from another I seek

mayhap he too can hear what they say

but none there is to share my grief

so alone I lie drowning in the voices that surround me

my ears long for sleep

my soul wishes for relief

I am a slave

seeking to understand

wishing to be freed

my tears are running out

yet I still have no one to lift my burden
